Ashley Cole has taken off his wedding as a mark of respect to his estranged and humiliated wife Cheryl. The football player is still in the South of France receiving treatment for a broken ankle, but was photographed yesterday not wearing his ring.

Sources are claiming that reason behind the removal of his wedding ring is to show Cheryl how sorry he is, but he intends to put it back on in hope that the couple can make it work. Back in the U.K. Cheryl has reportedly pulled out of her tell-all interview on the BBC show "Friday Night with Jonathan Ross." The reason behind the cancellation is being speculated over the possibility that she might not be getting divorced after all.

Friends of the singer have been reported saying that Cheryl is "torn" whether or not she should get back together with Ashley. Her spokesperson has simply said: "Cheryl will no longer be appearing on Jonathan Ross for interview. It is possible she may still perform her new single."

Meanwhile, the Girls Aloud singer has admitted that she is "petrified" when facing the prospect that she maybe single after being with her husband for so long. It is thought that Cheryl will move out of the pair's Surrey home and in to a London located pad closer to her band mates. icelebz
