Jessica Simpson is sad that ex-husband Nick Lachey is truly happy with new fiancée Vanessa Minnillo. The singer, who dumped the 30-year-old singer, who divorced the former 98 Degrees boyband member in 2006, can't help but react to the news.

Jessica, who starred with her then-husband in the MTV reality series "Newlyweds," split from Nick after three years of marriage. Their divorce was finalized a year later.

While she has had numerous relationships following the demise of her marriage, from John Mayer to Tony Romo and now Eric Johnson, Nick was only reported to have dated Vanessa, whom he was briefly separated from in 2009.

And now that Nick and Vanessa have announced their engagement, Jessica is reportedly "deeply saddened" that her ex is getting married again.

A source told Pop Eater, "Even though Jessica wants to be happy for Nick, this is a very difficult time for her. Nick was the love of her life then, man, and he was her first, so she will always have a very special place in her heart for him. She's deeply saddened."

A friend of Nick said that after Jessica broke his heart, he never thought he could be married again, but Vanessa changed it all.

The friend told the website, "Nick knows what it's like to lose someone that you love and wasn't going to let it happen again. He never thought he would ever get married again after Jessica broke his heart."

"He never thought he would ever allow himself to be vulnerable again, but after dating for a long time he trusts Vanessa and knows she's the girl he wants to spend the rest of his life with."

Jessica apparently hasn't contacted Nick yet because she's afraid she may not come off as sincere.  icelebz
