Madonna and daughter Lourdes' Material Girl fashion line apparently violates another clothing company's trademark. L.A. Triumph, Inc. claims that it owns the name since 1997, and the pop superstar's fashion label is infringing on it

he clothing company claims Madonna and Lourdes' junior clothing line, launched this year, ripped off their name. The suit claims the newer line's ads are "risque" and could confuse the public as to which Material Girl clothing line the commercial represents.

It added that department store giant Macy's will be added as defendant upon further discovery.

The company's attorney Peter Afrasiabi told X17online.com, "Our client and its predecessor have been continually selling similar clothes in similar retail outlets at similar price points under their Material Girl brand since at least 1997 and Madonna and her newfound company do not have the right to trade in the same space under this brand."

L.A. Triumph wants "actual damages" as well as "profits attributable to their unlawful conduct according to proof to be proved at trial."  icelebz
